Cooking on my raclette, the most amazing family experience!

I just HAVE to share with you what I have been up to! I LOVE my raclette! What is a raclette you ask? It's the most amazing tabletop grill I have ever seen! It comes with two tops.. A metal and a natural granite stone. My favorite part has to be the little trays underneath though!! Melts ooey-gooey cheese, bakes cinnamon rolls, s'mores, Mac n cheese, scalloped potatoes, shrimp scampi, cinnamon apples, mini meatloaf, brownies, oh my goodness the possibilities are endless!! I have a grill and chill get together with friends this Friday, and am wondering if it would be best to wear my retro clothing while grilling it up! What do you think? :) anyway, here's some photos of the raclette that I use. If you would like to get yours too you can go to www.CheesyChick.velata.us , everything is 10% off this month! Which is amazing. My fav part? The lifetime warranty <3
Until next time,

inexpensive fabric websites for the vintage seamstress

I have been teaching myself to sew my own vintage type clothing, and my local JoAnn's fabric store does not have very many (if any) atomic or retro inspired fabrics that I would like to use. Although I score neat fabric at thrift shop or antique stores, it can be a challenge! I have been looking more and more online to find the style fabric I would like to use, and some of the prints are gorgeous! Like this Michael Miller Mid century atomic turquoise print on sale for $7.82 per yard!

Or this Michael Miller Retro Atomic Orbs Tangerine fabric on sale for $7.82 per yard!

Do you sew?
What would you love to make out of these fabric prints?
Which one is your favorite?
Are you able to find a great retro fabric deal online that you would love to share with us?

DIY make it yourself mid century vintage look alike items

I have a major obsession with mid century decor! Although my husband appreciates the style, he is very picky and does not want to end up with more clutter than decor (he likes simple rather than a lot to look at). We are both also very much into saving money, as we splurge on other things and sometimes need to cut corners somewhere, right?
I adore true vintage, but because our wallets can only take so much, reproduction or DIY are often a more realistic option. I have compiled a list of a few of my favorite vintage do it yourself projects with links to the details! Note, these projects are not my own, they are simply a list for your convenience!! :)
Enjoy!!!

Charity Calendar update

We have had quite the time with this calendar. From location issues, our children being at each shoot, and even some bad mouthing about us and our talents, it has been an up and down ride. We lost motivation after a while, but remembered and focused on why we decided to do this in the first place, to give back to our charity of choice, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. That alone has brought us back from the dead, and slamming these shoots like none other! With two 3-year olds in tow, we have been doing 2-3 models a week for the past couple weeks. LOADS of editing, planning, and creative thinking. We have the end in our sight, and have started putting together the final layouts for the calendar.
Here are a few of our most recent ones, Miss June (Bailee) and Miss October (Cora). Not too shabby! We can't WAIT to share the final chosen photos in color, and hope we can raise a good amount for the charity! Hope you like them! Check out www.facebook.com/CheesecakeOohLaLa to find ordering information! We would like all orders to be completed no later than Sunday the 15th of December. Scenery for the outside shoots are from the beautiful Whidbey Island, Washington!

Spooky Halloween decor!

I just love my little decorations! The idea came off of Pinterest.com , I need to make more though! They are a little spread out for me, I want my spooky town to be more full!! I got the little houses and people at the dollar tree and the light posts were a pack of 4 for a dollar, and of course the spider web stuff I used as fog for $1. Next I went to Home Depot and got some cheap black matte spraypaint for just over a dollar, took it all home and spray painted the little ugly cheesy Christmas houses transforming them into a spooky village! I put a little play doh over the little peoples faces and spray painted them too!

I had a lot of spider web stuff left over so I decorated my dining room light with it and some little black creepy spiders!

I also tried making a cool spooky hanging decoration out of cut trash bags to hang on my front porch, but the wind was blowing and I was standing on a wobbly railing, and I had my 5 year old helping me with the tape which didn't work out so well, so I will not share that mess of a photo with you, it is worse than you may think lol. Have I had the time to take it down yet though? The answer is no. *face-palm* maybe I will do that tomorrow so I don't embarrass the neighborhood!

How are you decorating for Halloween or fall?

Charity Pinup Calendar

So over the summer, my friend and I began our dream careers as Pinup Photographers! We work like two peas in a pod, and we decided to make a calendar for charity - we chose the Navy~Marine Corps Relief society because her husband is in the Navy and my husband is a Marine, and the Relief Society is such an amazing program, helping out Sailors and Marines financially and otherwise! We did a calendar girl casting call, tallied the votes, and got our ladies months and outfits assigned! This Wednesday will be our first calendar shoot, Miss May, followed by Thursday for Miss September! I am so excited to get a move on with this calendar! But I have to let you in on a probably well-known secret... when ya bring military wives together, there will always be some that have issues with SOMETHING. If it's not this, it's that! Let me tell ya, it is sooo frustrating, my business partner and I are trying to do a kind thing for a charity close to our hearts, and while we have many supporters, there are always those who find a stink out of every situation. Do yall know any people like that? I just can't wait to get the calendar put together and donate!! My heart feels so full knowing my business partner and I can make a difference and give back! We are putting our heart and souls into this calendar. :)

On a seperate but kinda relevant note, about 2 weeks ago I messed my computer up some kinda aweful! I truely don't understand why I have such bad luck with electronics, I swear I don't do anything to them, they just hate me! My husbands co-worker said he could fix it up that day for us, little did he know how far gone it was!! Muahahahaha! Just kidding. But it took him over a week to get it figured out, I got it back yesterday and it is still a little silly. I got the new Photoshop CS6 put on it, and it keeps locking me out today! I really want to get these photos edited for a paid pinup shoot customer, I may end up having to go over to Blue Velvet's house to finish them up if my laptop has to go back in to the e-doc!

Just wanted to share with yall what I have been up to lately! :)
